Hi, my name is Brian Keefe. I sincerely hope that once you hear my songs, you'll love them as much as I loved creating and recording them.
Being an Indie (Independent) artist, I also have none of the major record labels with their huge budgets, dozens of marketing staff, TV, radio and everything else they have at their disposal backing me up in this endeavor of mine. My budget is limited and I can only do so much.
Of course, my real hope is that you will love my music and my songs. It's really that simple. Contained in these web pages are only a fraction of all the songs I have in my collection. This is my first full-length solo album - 12 songs total (and I thew in 3 cover tunes too). I truly hope you will love them and want to add them to your own collection or playlists. They are available on my website here, but also available on all the major music platforms such as Spotify, Amazon, iTunes/Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, YouTube, etc. They are also available now on Pandora so please add me to your Pandora playlists!
A little something about me - I started playing guitar and singing when I was 11 years old. I took lessons for a little over a year and seemed to have a good ear for rock and roll. I went back to my music teacher later in my teens and asked him to teach me finger picking. While I found that music really moved me both in a physical and spiritual way, it didn't take me long to understand that it also moved other people like this too. The desire to perform, for me anyway, was never based in ego, but rather more in empathy. I think many musicians are somewhat empathetic in a very special way. Not necessarily in a way that we are able to detect and feel the emotions of others, but more spiritually empathetic and able to key in on the kinds of music and songs that move people in different ways emotionally. Music has always been very important to me in this way. To see my friends, family and even people I'd never met before letting out emotions that they had sometimes held in for a long time felt kind of like a calling or something. I don't really know if it was THAT or not, but it's always seemed important.
Writing songs about things that I'd experienced or sometimes that other people had asked me to write about kind of became the next natural evolution for me. I've been asked about my writing style, so I'll answer that one here too - I always write the music first and then write my lyrics to fit the music.
Some of the bands and artists that I listened to when I was younger who really had an impact on my style today - which I would probably categorize as Acoustic Singer/Songwriter - were The Beatles, Pink Floyd, James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkel, Jim Croce, The Indigo Girls, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young to name a few (there have been many!). These artists leaned me heavily toward the beautiful sounds that can be attained from the acoustic guitar.
Some of my favorite country artists include Travis Tritt, Clint Black, Vince Gill, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Alan Jackson.
Of today's artists (not country), I lean toward Ed Sheeran, Jason Mraz, Passenger and John Mayer, to name a few. These artists have pioneered sounds and styles that deeply resonate with me.
This is just a little about the artists and bands that have contributed over years of listening to the stylings and sound that I create and produce today.
So, why have I waited all this time to finally begin recording my original songs in the way that I want to record them? Recent years have given us more and more affordable recording options such as better and better computers/laptops, Digital Audio Workstations (DAW's), affordable mix boards, headphones, studio monitors and other equipment. It took me a little while to compile all the software and equipment I would need to begin recording and now is that time.
I currently have between 45-50 original songs in my repertoire, so that makes up several albums of songs. 12 original songs and 3 cover tunes are complete and can be purchased and downloaded here on my website or any of the major music platforms you are familiar with.
I truly hope that you, as a true music lover, will embrace and enjoy the songs I've added here and will be adding over the next several years and beyond.
So give a listen. And if you like what you hear, spend a dollar or two and download your favorites or head over to Spotify or Pandora and add them to your playlists!!!
Thank you so very much for your support.
